Mission Moments: Miracles at Colina de Luz
My husband, Terry Cocking, and I have been blessed to visit the Colina de Luz Orphanage in Tijuana, Baja California, on two weekends in August 2024 and again last weekend in March 2025.
We were impressed by how much the children seemed to love Jim, the orphanage founder, and all the staff. The children appeared happy, well taken care of, and exhibited a compassionate and sharing quality among themselves. There were 11 new children, and we observed the more seasoned kids putting their arms around and encouraging some of the quieter newcomers.
Both of us felt God's love and presence in this orphanage, whether we were all eating in the large, well-populated cafeteria, enjoying the amazing performances the children put on for us, or participating in the children's Sunday Worship Service.
We left around noon on Sunday, feeling that this was a place we would like to return to and support with our own donations. We thank God for this loving Christian orphanage and are praying for its continued success. We also extend our gratitude to Pastor Kevin Ibanez and his lovely wife, Andria, for allowing us to experience this beautiful place.
