OUR RTH MALAWI STAFF
Serving in Lilongwe, Malawi
We have an incredible ministry team serving in Lilongwe that is led by Reaching the Hungry's Malawi Staff: Alfred, Joshua, McDonnex, and Martha. They are remarkable stewards of God's resources who would love to share with you a little about themselves and the work they're doing to grow God's Kingdom.
ALFRED QIPO JEREMIAH
RtH-Malawi Team Leader
Hello! My name is Alfred and I'm the last born in a family of six children. I'm married to Mestinar and we are blessed with 2 children: Alfred & Blessings.
Most of the schools I have gone through have been centered around finishing the Great Commission. After earning my MSCE (Malawi School Certificate of Education), I attended the School of Ministry at Living Family Ministerial School for 3 years — after which I was ordained as a pastor on August 7th, 2016. I was awarded a Purpose Driven Church Training Certificate after 6 months of intensive training and a Bible certificate after another 6 months course at Living Family Ministerial School. Additionally, I've trained at Thomson Bible International Training Institute and I've received my African Pastoral Training Ministries Certificate. Most recently, I earned a diploma in Biblical Studies from Network Beyond's ITI (International Training Institute) and a Partnership Certificate from DJJ (Discipleship Journeys with Jesus).
I've worked as a pastor in several local churches which introduced me to a missions & evangelism team that connected me not only in Malawi but also in neighboring countries. Additionally, I've served alongside Mother Tereza and the Dream Nations Missions team — specifically working with vulnerable children & families affected by natural disasters here in Malawi.
I thank God for connecting me with Reaching the Hungry. In the past, my fellow staff members and I had the zeal to minister, serve, evangelize and teach — but we had little to no resources. Now, we are able to go out under the financial help, moral support, supervision, and mentorship from Pastor Carlos Sales and the whole Reaching the Hungry family in the USA. We've been trained on how to train others who can then be trusted to go & teach people who will go & teach more people— helping to fulfill the Great Commission.
As the RtH-Malawi Team Leader, I lead RtH-Malawi Staff by planning, budgeting, and coordinating ministry activities. I oversee the Training Department by planning, teaching, and maintaining the training and discipleship program for RtH-Malawi. Leadership & Discipleship Training for Bible Study Group Leaders are a key component of Reaching the Hungry's ministry in Malawi. RtH's teaching is unique in Malawi since it focuses on the relationship between man and God — not man and church/church leaders — and emphasizes the transformation of people into disciples of Christ (rather than mere church members). Throughout the year, RtH's Malawi Staff leads revivals in remote villages to launch Bible Study Groups (BSGs) that are then provided with Bible lessons, so that new believers can be guided on their journey with Christ.
McDONNEX DEVISON NTHALA
Evangelism & Church Planting Coordinator
Greetings! My name is McDonnex and I'm the eighth born in a family of 10 children. I'm married to Violet Sinago and we are blessed with 3 biological children — Vannesa, Miracle and Micaiah — and one adopted child, Anita.
I have a MSCE (Malawi School Certificate of Education) and was awarded a certificate from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa for working with vulnerable children & families affected by HIV/AIDS, poverty, and displacement. I also earned a diploma in Biblical Studies from Network Beyond's ITI (International Training Institute) and a Partnership Certificate from DJJ (Discipleship Journeys with Jesus).
I am an evangelist by calling and a pastor by choice trained in pastoral services. I've worked as a missionary in Malawi and in neighboring countries for over 15 years under my church.
It is so amazing to be working with Reaching the Hungry under the leadership of Pastor Carlos. For years, my fellow staff members and I have had zeal for ministry but little to no resources. Now with Reaching the Hungry, we do — and I am so thankful to God! We have access to the transportation we need to reach communities in remote areas and the equipment to showcase the Jesus Film to them. Jesus Film Outreaches are a key component of Reaching the Hungry's ministry in Malawi as they gather large crowds in which hundreds accept Christ as their Savior!
As the Evangelism & Church Planting Coordinator, I plan, recruit, and prepare for evangelistic and church planting ministries. We share the Jesus Film and do outreach revival meetings to reach people with the Gospel. We raise up and train pastors to start churches in remote villages. I also support other team members' efforts as requested (i.e., teaching, equipment care, etc.).
JOSHUA JOSOPHAT KALIMWAYI
Coordinator of Sustainability Development
Hi! My name is Joshua and I'm a pastor who by the grace of God received God's call to ministry in 2014.
In preparation to serve in ministry, I went through theological seminary in 2015-2018. In 2018, I finished that three-year course of Theological Studies and then joined Africa Nazarene University in Nairobi Kenya for my undergraduate degree — which I received in 2023. While in school, I enjoyed serving with various ministries which enabled me to engage in evangelism, church planting, teaching, and preaching — all of which fostered my growth as a disciple of Christ and strengthened my skills as a ministry leader.
In September 2023, I joined RtH-Malawi Staff as the Coordinator of Sustainability Development working directly with the ministry team. Part of my responsibilities is to serve as the supervisor of Reaching the Hungry's Medicine Store; overseeing its day-to-day operations. It is located in Lilongwe, Malawi and we had its Grand Opening in January 2024. It is one of our key components of RtH-Malawi because it will be funding the ministry here in Malawi — all for the glory of God! On June 8, 2024, Egrita "Happiness" Banda and I got married!
MARTHA FAVOUR TAMBALA
Women's and Children's Ministry Coordinator
Hi there! My name is Martha Tambala Mapulanga, and I am a servant of God. I'm married to Feleston Mapulanga, we have one child, his name is Travis Joshua.
Firstly, I would like to share my educational background. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and Entrepreneurship, which I obtained from Nkhoma University in 2019.
During my time at the university, from 2014 to 2015, I was passionate about serving others, which led me to join volunteer work at Chisomo Idea, a Christian NGO that mentors less privileged kids and youths in Lilongwe. I also worked with When the Saints, a Christian NGO that supports and educates girls who have been sexually, emotionally, and physically abused, in 2016. These experiences deepened my passion for serving Christ.
Furthermore, in my fourth year at Nkhoma University, around 2018, I joined Reaching the Hungry on a volunteer basis, and I have been with the ministry for six years now. Serving with Reaching the Hungry has allowed me to fulfill my dream of serving Christ with passion. During my time with Reaching the Hungry, I have had the opportunity to work with wonderful and amazing team members, as well as management staff, including Pastor Carlos and Mum Lisa, who have mentored me to become a trainer in Women's Ministry and Children's Ministry.
Recently, I was appointed as Women's and Children's Ministry Coordinator for RtH-Malawi, where I am responsible for planning, recruiting, and preparing for women's and children's ministry, as well as taking care of ministry equipment. I would like to thank the management for giving me this opportunity, and I will continue to be dedicated to the ministry. All glory and honor to God, thank you.
